    2. Margie D. Austin
    3. Hi Lee, If you are interested, The State and Regional National Archives and most genealogy libaries have the microfilm where you can do your own research if there is one close to you. I would suggest starting with the pension records. The Revolutionary War Bounty Land Warrant Applications and Pensions are on Film M804. They are listed alpha and you do not need to know the unit. My Davis are on Rolls 747-769 and my Hesters are on Roll 1263. Then if you want to look for the compiled records, the index would be on M881. You do need to know the assigned unit on these film. The North Carolina units are on Rolls 781-786. Good luck with your research, Margie ==== NCORANGE Mailing List ==== Larry Noah - lrnoah@bigfoot.com - Listowner - NCORANGE mailing list Orange Co, NC USGenWeb site is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncorange USGenWeb Orange Co, NC Archives site is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/orangnc.htm

They should at least be able to answer your question on the recruitment of regiments, or lead you to sources that could help. You might want to tell them that you have been unsuccessful with NARA. 3. Searching for ANY information about LYON family in Orange County in the late 1700's. Robert LYON settles in Caswell County by the early 1780's, but may have been in the area before Caswell was established in 1777. He dies in Caswell in 1804, leaving grown children and two teenaged orphaned grandchildren living with him, Edmond and Elizabeth Lyon. Edmond marries widow Elizabeth Cheatwood Dennis and moves on to Overton Co, TN. I have lost track of his sister Elizabeth (Betsey). Robert's children include: Jane, married Nuam JOHNSTON Ann (Anna), married Nehemiah DANIEL Mary, married John MIDDLEBROOK William, married Martha (unknown) Robert, jr: spouse unknown John, spouse unknown. as well as the father of the orphaned grandchildren, whose name, along with his wife's, is unknown to me. Elizabeth Cheatwood marries John Dennis/Dennison/Tennison in 1798 in Caswell County, probably his second wife. After his death, she marries Edmond Lyon in Caswell County. They sell her inherited estate and move west, eventually ending up in Overton Co, TN. There is a Lanslot Cheatwood in Caswell County records, also in 1798, but I can find no other potential family members for my Elizabeth.
