I subscribed to the NCORANGE mailing list this week and cannot believe the helpfulness of so many folks. I especially want to thank Ms Overton for the index to Chatham County wills. I am researching POE in this county and this information to me in the San Antonio, TX area is invaluable. My grandmother was Ida Mae POE (b. 1870 d. 1948) daughter of John Cooper POE(b. abt 1822) son of Hasten POE (b. abt 1782 d. 1852). Question-are there Will Books that are earlier? If so, what is the earliest date of the will books? I presume they are not indexed. Again thanks to everyone for the information and your generosity. . ==== NCORANGE Mailing List ==== Larry Noah - lrnoah@bigfoot.com - Listowner - NCORANGE mailing list Orange Co, NC USGenWeb site is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncorange USGenWeb Orange Co, NC Archives site is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/orangnc.htm

We are getting a little lax on our quoting. Below is from you welcome message. *********************************************************** * Try to keep quoting to a minimum. "Quoting" is repeating text of the message you are replying to. Some quoting is necessary to remind other readers what the thread is about but do try to use good judgement. Quoting the previous writer's signature block or surname list is totally unnecessary. ********************************************************** It is also not necessary to quote the tagline.
