    3. Hi everyone: Hope someone can help me. Was wondering if anyone has run across the name of Adam Spoon (or any Spoon's). I know there are Spoons in the 1790 census, but I have been unable to find out what church they went to. I have no proof of it, but have been told they were Lutheran. If anyone has done research in Lutheran Church Records and run across the Spoon name would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Phyllis

    1. [NCORANGE] Josiah Taylor
    2. Loretta Kelldorf
    3. There was a very famous Taylor-Sutton feud in South Texas, primarily De Witt County which involved the family of Josiah Taylor. According to one researcher of the feud: Josiah Taylor b.1781 VA and d. 1830 De Witt Co. TX is buried in the Taylor-Bennett Cemetery south of Cuero TX. He married in Clark County GA Oct 1807 to Hephzibeth Luker. They appear in TX 1826 census with 8 children. Source: Fuel for a Feud (3rd revised edition) by Marjorie Burnett Hyatt, c. 1990 This family had an extremely interesting history in South TX. If it was your family, you will want to research them in depth in TX. They were related to the Hardin family that gave birth to the famous outlaw John Wesley Hardin who was their best gun in the feud. It was participation and context of the feud that John Wesley built his name as a killer. Perhaps this will clarify some of the "Josiah Taylor" identities for someone. Loretta [email protected]

I know nothing more of John than that he was Josiah's father. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks Luci Leath Daniel

    2. The "taylor" question referred to the Faucettes of Orange County. My great great grandmother was also a Faucette from that county. Her name is Nancy Faucett Cary. She married David T. Cary. She helped to raise a child he had from another woman that I cant prove marriage too. She is buried at Walnut Grove Church in Orange County. This is not a part of the county that became Alamance County it is still considered Orange County. Also, you inquired about J. Taylor on marriage bonds. 3. Chris, About 1810 a lot of land in the east (Va and NC) was sold for taxes because people had gone west and left their parents.. When the parents died, sometimes their land was not claimed by their children and it was sold for taxes.. In Va. and probably, in NC such tax sales were signed by the Sheriff.. If you can determine who the sheriff of the county was at the time, you might find deeds for the land signed by him.. Once that sale is found, it can be traced by Grantee and Grantor Deed indexes from there on.. I have found some Sheriff sales in unfiled records in Va..(by accident) and went to the name of the person who bought the land in the Deed Book and found a discription of the land...... G. 3. I found a deed dated 1810 where Abraham Whitaker sold land to Robert Rhodes in Orange Co. Can anyone tell me how to go about tracing the ownership of that land from that point on? I looked in the deed books but could never find where the land changed ownership from Robert Rhodes to anyone else. Someone suggested to check tax records. Would the land have an identification number or something that would identify this particular piece of land in the tax record? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I may contacted directly at [email protected] Thanks, Chris
