    1. [NCORANGE] NUNN, James (or Dennis?)
    2. James NUNN died before 1792 leaving his wife, Lucy (CLAYTON?), and children Thomas, Mary (Polly), Betsey and Patsey. Lucy subsequently married William Byars in Granville Co where James' estate was admin- istered. In one record he was referred to as Dennis NUNN. There were NUNNs in Orange Co at this time, so James might have come from there. Also there is a record of James, Jane and Thomas NUNN on the rent roll of King and Queen Co VA in 1782. Any suggestions as to the parents of James NUNN, or his wife Lucy, will be much appreciated. Tom ([email protected])

    1. [NCORANGE] IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ
    2. Larry Noah
    3. The following is from your your welcome message and is also posted on the list website - Please Read it again. --------------quote---------------------------------- The purpose of this list is for genealogical and historical discussion on the area that became Orange County, North Carolina in 1752. This area not only includes the present Orange County but all or part of the following counties: Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Guilford, Person, Randolph, Rockingham and Wake. -----------end of quote------------------------------- I am sick and tired of the infantile banter on this list as of late. If you cannot post 'on topic' - do not post at all. If this nonsense continues, I will make this list moderated. "On Topic" is defined in the quote above. Follow the rules or you will be removed. To make it in plain English - POST ON TOPIC OR DO NOT POST. Larry Noah, Listowner

    2. Robert Sauls
    3. I have never been much on speaking my peace about things , I was always taught to keep my mouth shut if it did not,t pertain to me. However I feel that the recent discussion as to the ( advertisement ) , warranted my input. Was I offended by it? So what if I was, does that mean that I will no longer research Orange Co. NC or any other research on the web? I don't think so. Did it interrupt or take away from my research. Yes , however it was not the trailer that did this but the response of others that caused more irrelevant traffic than did the so called advertisement. This would include myself . Let's get on with our research and let our list administrator work out all the little problems. Life is too short to fuss over something as trivial as this. 3. Thanks for your comments Charles: I agree - what a hub bub about nothing. I don't even think she should un-subscribe. Geez!! If folks don't like the signature line - then don't read it. Get over it!! Life is too short and there is way too much genealogy out there to spend this much time and energy fussing about something so trivial. 1. [NCORANGE] How to subscribe and unsubscribe
    2. Larry Noah
    3. The recent off-topic banter was originated when a person attempted to unsubscribe using the incorrect address. Below is copied for the Mailing List Website on the procedures for subscribing and unsubscribing. Please note the word "request" in the address. These are the only addresses that should be used for these purposes. Thanks. Larry Noah, listowner --------From Mailing List Website-------------- You are invited to subscribe to this list by sending email to: [email protected] for individual messages or [email protected] for the digest mode. Just type the one word - subscribe - in the body of the message. Do not use a signature line in the message. Subject line is not necessary. You may cut and paste the preferred address above into the "To:" section of your mailing software and cut and paste the word subscribe in the Body section of your email software. To unsubscribe follow the directions as above except type the one word - unsubscribe - in the body of the message. If you are subscribed in the digest mode you must use the address [email protected] If you are subcribed to get each message individually you must use the address [email protected] ------------------------end of quoted material----------------------------

    3. Its not what she did or said that causes the problem, its the reaction of people who reply. This is a genealogy list ,not a debate list. The smartest thing to do is , if you don't like what you see, just hit the delete key. 2. Uncle Charlie
    3. Hey, this is my first time to post here. I don't even know if I'm doing this right, but let's take a "time out". Forget about banning posters. Just send the lady an email telling her to remove the signature line as it offends some people. Let me tell you this true story. I'm not too shy about speaking my mind which has at times upset a few folks in New Mexico. On that GenWeb mailing list for county web page owners, some of those posters have 15 lines of signature. No, I'm not kidding. It is really ridiculous. (Besides the fact they talk about anything except serious genealogy business.) Well, I'm anti-junkmail, and I joined an anti-spam organization and added one tiny signature line to my emails showing my anti-spam membership. They got up in arms because I was promoting something other than genalogy with my signature line. It was okay for them to exchange silly jokes about who has red hair or not, but they objected to my signature line which was only one line long. I got so angry that I started my own New Mexico Genealogy organization called NewMexicoGenealogy.org. In a few weeks my webstie has become more popular than the entire combined websites of NMGENWEB, and I ain't finished yet. So, I say don't ban the lady and don't put anything on the boards about her. Just email her privately and handle it. Okay, I'm way over here in the West and don't even know you folks from NC, but that is my two cents worth. Y'all have a good day now, ya hear! Charles Barnum
