As you probably noticed, we are now getting messages 'gatewayed' from the Ancestry/RootsWeb message board for Orange County, NC. The people posting these messages may be replying to a message in the board without quoting that would mean nothing to us on the mailing list. You may see messages that mean nothing to your or even to Orange Co, NC. My choice is to allow the gateway or not - no monitering of individual messages. I am going to ask 3 things of the members of this list. 1. MOST IMMPORTANT - Make you comments to me privately at [email protected] I do not want the list cluttered with this. I will report a summary to the list. 2. Tell me if you think the gatewayed messages are an asset to the mailing list or not. Keep in mind that I have no way of monitoring these messages. If they are off topic - so be it. 3. If you reply to oone of these gatewayed messaged, please use the link to reply on the message board. Your reply will automatically be 'gatedwayed' to the mailing list. I personally think this will be an asset to the mailing list. But, I need your opinion. Thanks. He married Tyretia Cash Young. They had a son Samuel Owens, born 1795 in Orange County, North Carolina. They moved to Humphreys County, Tennessee about 1810. I would guess shortly after Only Owens died. Record indicate that Belitha Owens was born in North Carolina in 1810 and Rebecca Owens was born in Humphreys County Tennessee in 1812. That would indicate Samuel moved shortly after his father Only Owens died. In the 1820 census, Samuel did not have an elderly female living with him in this census, however the 1830 census indicates that an elderly female lived with him, that was over 50 years of age. I am speculating that it is Sarah Owens his mother. That was common practice for the eldest son to care for their mother. She is not in the 1840 census which would indicate she died between 1830-40. Samuels wife Tyretia is listed as a widow in the 1850 census. It is possible that this woman was someone other than! Sarah Owens, however, it has been my experience that the widow is taken in by the eldest son. Samuel Owens, son, Samuel born in 1795, married Mary (unknown) and moved to Rockcastle County, Kentucky around 1820. His second eldest son, Job Owens, born 1834, married Hettie Adams. Job and Hetties son, William Owens, born 1854, was my greatgrandfather.

Hello, My name is Will Holloman. I'm sending all of you this e-mail, asking weather or not any of you on this list have any information on Frank W. Taylor and his wife, Virginia Higgs. Both of these people are my great- great-grandfather and great-great-grandmother. They both lived in Orange/Guiford county in the mid to late 19th Century in North Carolina. The two bits of information I have about them is from my aunt who told me that both of them taught music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the mid to late 19th century and that also that my great-great-grandmother was blind. Also I found out that my great-great-grandfather served in the Civil War as a musician with the S Co. 16th Battn Cav Reg. NC. If anyone has any information on these two people and who there ancestors where, I would greatly appreciate it. I've hit a brick wall and I am trying to find my way around it! Thank You!
