    1. [Northampton] RAWLS family of Nansemond co., Va, & Bertie-Halifax-Hertford, Northampton, co's, NC, & Fairfield-Richland Co's, SC.
    2. Bobby Ray Rawls
    3. Hello all, I am looking for any info. on the RAWLS & associated families that lived in NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA in the 1690's to late 1790's, in the above counties from the early 1700,s to early 1800's in NORTH CAROLINA and then in SOUTH CAROLINA from the mid 1700's till mid 1800's. JOHN RAWLS {RALLS on most records} first patented land in 1695 in NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA. Some of his descendants are, JAMES, HARDY, WILLIAM, JOHN, LUKE, DEMPSEY, SOLOMON, AMOS, MARMADUKE, GABRIEL, JESSE, JOSHUA, FRANCIS, HENRY RAWLS among others. my ancestor is GABRIEL RAWLS who was born circa 1720 and died abt 19th of DEC 1819. He and his {brothers?} LUKE & JESSE RAWLS moved from NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA, to JOHNSTON & NORTHAMPTON counties, NORTH CAROLINA. JESSE RAWLS {who apparently married OLIVE WINBORNE?} died in NORTHAMPTON county. in nearly all of the records he was listed on his brother LUKE RAWLS AND a WINBORNE were also listed. JESSE & OLIVE RAWLS' daughter SALLY RAWLS married JOHN BOON. LUKE RAWLS moved to CRAVEN county, SOUTH CAROLINA about 1769 and both he and GABRIEL RAWLS owned connecting land that also bordered that of WILLIAM SANDERS. There were children in the SANDERS family named GABRIEL SANDERS and LUKE RAWLS SANDERS that seems to suggest either a RAWLS male married a SANDERS woman or a RAWLS Female married a SANDERS Male. I think a sister of LUKE, GABRIEL & JESSE RAWLS married either WILLIAM SANDERS OR A SON OF william'S. The RAWLS listed in the records of BERTIE county, NORTH CAROLINA were from the same families of NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA. These people either married into the following families: HARREL, JONES, BEAMON, JERNAGAN, COWLING, MOORE, HOLMES, COPELAND, BALLARD, LANGSTON, BYRD, KEEN, BOYT, HARE, PORTER, BAKER, RIDDICK, YEATS, BRYAN, FOLK, PARKER, NORFLEET, WINBORNE, GWINN, DUKE, HOWELL, JENKINS, BREWER, EVERITTE, HARRISON, RODGERS, among others. HARDY RAWLS, SR. apparently married at least twice with children from both marriages, from the first appear to be, SOLOMON, JAMES, & his second marriage to AMERICA, appear to be, ELISHA H{HARDY} md. MARGARET JONES, ZILPHA RAWLS who md. DAVID JONES, ELLIFELL RAWLS who md. WILLIAM BOYT, MILLY RAWLS who md. REUBIN JENKINS, CATHERINE RAWLS who md. WILLIAM JENKINS, and a daughter who md. a PINDER. The JENKINS were neighbors to HARDY & AMERICA RAWLS and were named in lawsuits after the death of HARDY RAWLS after 1786. any info. is GREATLY APPRECIATED and I will respond in kind. many thanks. BOBBY RAWLS BIG SPRING, TEXAS

    1. [Northampton] Cemetery Book
    2. John
    3. Can anyone tell me if there is a published book on the cemeteries of Northampton County? If so, from whom would I order and how much? Better yet, if someone has a copy of such a book, would they be willing to search the book for the surname Lewter/Luter? I would be more than happy to pay anyone for their time and effort. Thank you in advance for your reply which I hope to receive at your convenience. John

    3. Julia, supposedly, ABRAHAM BASS had a daughter named ELIZABETH who married JOHN BRIDGERS, that same ELIZABETH seems to have married SILAS RAWLS, SR. (but) Most BASS & BRIDGERS researchers say they have no info. stating that the widow of JOHN BRIDGERS remarried. (so) I don't know if that ELIZABETH BASS was the same or not. any help is appreciated. 3. Julia and Bobby, I once found a possible marriage for my John (d bef 5 Feb 1816). This was to a Cynthia SPIVEY. First of all, is this the John we are discussing? Or, are we speaking of the John who died in 1764? Unfortunately, I did not manage to make a note of where I found the marriage of the younger John to Cynthia SPIVEY, but I do remember that it was in a marriage list that is on the internet. The older John was married to Faith RUFFIN. Hey, Bobby are you subscribed to the BRIDGES surname list. Julia is our list owner, and it has a good group of subscribers.
