    1. RE: [Northampton,NC] Wall family
    2. Michele Chavez
    3. Hi Teresa, I have one WALL in Northampton County, North Carolina. Her name was Nelly Wall. I wish I had birth, marriage, and death dates for her, but I don't. What I do have is from her father's will. Her father was John Wall, whose will was dated in 1793. His wife was Martha (--?--) and her brothers and sisters were Temperance, William, John, and Cherry. Nelly Wall married Ebemelech NICHOLAS. (There are lots of creative ways his given name was spelled.) They had a son named Jordan. Nelly evidently died before 1816, because that's when Ebemelech married again to Peggy Eakins in Davidson County, Tennessee. Jordan Nicholas also married that year in Davidson County to Jane Shares. They continued on to Humphreys County, Tennessee. Jordan Nicholas eventually ended up in Hickman County, Kentucky. My ex-husband and son are descended from him. I'd be very interested in information about Nelly's family and if anyone knows anything about her and her family. 2. Leslie, I'll use your friendly greeting to make a quest as to where the original Bertie courthouse was, marked on the 1730 Moseley Map in the vicinity of POTECASI, where I'm currently involved with ancestors DAVID and JEAN (SKIPPER) HERRING, who lived and raised a family there circa 1690-1730. I've put together a speculative deed map of this period from Urahaw Creek north through Potecasi to Potecasi Creek, which I'll gladly send to anyone interested. And Leslie, thank you for being Northampton List Administrator! Jim Herring, Jackson MS.

    2. ~~Leslie~~
    3. Hello Everyone, My name is Leslie (Bridges) Kohler. When the person who use to manage this list could not be found, I volunteered to take on the responsibility. So that you will know a little about me: I have been managing a number of the Rootsweb lists, strictly as a volunteer, for about 7 years. I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Missouri, where I still spend a good deal of time. And, I live in the wonderful city of Glendale, Arizona... which will host the 2008 Super Bowl. I am easy-going as a list administrator. All I ask is that we try to help one another, keep the language above reproach, and be kind to each other. If you need me, I can be reached through the list -or- at the administrator's address: NCNortha-admin@rootsweb.com -or- at Aug67@cox.net. Leslie

    3. I am looking for a Frances Jones whose 1750 will mentioned a daughter Judith Wilson. That will was found in Edgecombe Co records but may have something to do with the same family. I am hoping Al or someone else might know about Judith Wilson's father. From: Subject: Re: [Northampton] William Jones d 1784 in Northampton Co, NC Date: Wed, 29 Sep 2004 20:51:18 EDT Hi, In my data base I have a William Jones (b. abt 1701) whose father was Henry Jones, prob. of VA. Henry's listed wife is Catherine (abt.1680-abt.1757). William had a brother named Francis who was from Northampton Co., NC. Francis had a will probated in 1784 in Northampton Co., NC. Francis Jones had children who were later found in Wake Co., NC. This Jones family may be related to the wealthy William Harding?Jones of Chowan Co, NC. I suspect they all come from the Chesapeake Roger Jones family that made a ton of money in the shipping business. Frederick Jones (1658-1722) may be part of this family and the father of the wealthy William Harding Jones of Chowan Co, NC. I mention the William Harding and Frederick and Roger Jones because info on them is in the NC Bio. Dictionary by Powell. This family that migrated to Wake Co, NC, became some of the largest land owners in Wake and married into many of the substantial families of that area, including Joel Lane, the so called father of Raleigh, NC. Or rather Joel Lane married his brothers daughter, Jane (Jean) Lane to the largest land owner in Wake Co, Capt Etheldred Jones. Some of the above is from my primary research and other is from a Wake Co Jones family member from Texas. The connections to Frederick and William Harding Jones and Roger Jones are my own speculation on who these folks probably were. I suspect that Allen Jones and Wilie Jones are also from the Roger Jones family. As to how they all exactly connect, I haven't a clue. Al

    3. Hi, Sue. I've just replied to the Outland query and asked for help in finding the parents of Pheriby (or Pheriba) Wilson. Perhaps she is related to Charity. They may have been in Wilson, Wayne, Northampton, Johnston, and/or other nearby NC counties. Have you seen a Pheriby anywhere? She was married to William Lancaster, sometimes given as William George Washington Lancaster. Her husband's father was Washington Lancaster and his mother was Nancy Wilson. Hopefully, we can be of some help to each other. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue" <sueum95@bright.net> To: <NCNORTHA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 24, 2005 10:30 AM Subject: Re: [Northampton] OUTLAND > Who were the parents & grandparents of Angelina Beale? 3. My husband is descended from the Lancasters, one of whom William Lancaster) married Ann Outland. They were Quakers, so there are records of them in Hinshaw's collection, The Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, which is found in many libraries. Some of the Lancasters were in Trigg County also, I believe. Would you mind checking the book you mentioned for Lancasters. Our brick wall is built around the wife of William Lancaster, born 13 Apr 181 at Pulaski County GA. She is Pheriby Wilson, born 9 March 1821 at Pulaski, GA, died in 1900 at a Sanitorium at Milledgeville, Baldwin Co., GA. We are trying to find her parents' names. We think they were in Northampton, Wayne and/or Johnston County N.C, but also think they could have been in Wilson County, and maybe related to the Wilson after whom the county was named. Would you also check the book for Wilsons, if that is possible for your to do. We will greatly appreciate your help and the help of any others who may recognize these names. 2. Sandy, Lucretia Lassiter, b.abt.1787 d.5 Jan 1835, was the daughter of Jesse Lassiter, Jr. and wife Chloe. She married Elias Hicks 7 Nov 1807. Lucretia was a sister to Lemuel and Britton who settled in Calloway Co., KY in the early 1800's. Another brother Lazarus settled just across the Tennessee River in Stewart Co., TN. They were all born in Northampton Co., NC. Elias shows up on the 1810, 1820 & 1830 Stewart Co. Census. 6 August 1829, Calloway Co., KY DB A.,p.223, Elias Hicks, Lemuel Lassiter and Lazarus Lassiter were witnesses for a deed from Beverly Brown to Britton Lassiter. Elias Hicks is listed on the Stewart Co., TN tax list from 1830-1843. These are the records I have for Lucretia and Elias. I'm sure there are other records for them in Stewart and Calloway. I have much more on the Lassiter's who migrated from Northampton Co. to Calloway Co., KY. My husband descends through her and Elias through their son Andrew Jackson Hicks and Sarah Coleman. I am sorry, but I do not know of our family connection to the Beale family. 2. Sorry, Hit the go button before I typed anything. The book I spoke of is The Batchelor-Williams Families and related Lines By Lyle Keith Williams Arlington Century Printing, INC Arlington, Texas 76010. Some of it I have scanned into my computer files. It was a very difficult book to locate back in 1993 and probably harder to do so today. The author was very old and may have pasted on by now. He told me to contact a retired lady who had sold her business but she had some more books at home. A week after I got the book, I got word from the curator of Murray State Univeristy Pogue Library that another book had been donate and that I could get loan since they now had two. The 2nd Sat in Oct in the Hicks Cem Murray KY I met another Outland descendant from MI. On New Year eve she found was finally answer my e-mail of Oct and was looking to locate John Wallace Outland. I call her the next and ask what relationship he was to her. Her grandfather, well, I said I will take you back nine generations to the Isle of Wright Co, VA and to Cornelius who was there from Holland by 1650. She turns out to be a third cousins.
