    3. Sally, Thanks for responding. We'd be glad to see you at the Reunion. And would be good to have Brittons represented, too. Sometimes we get so focused on the male surname that we forget that the female lineage is extremely important, too. 3. The most complete list of Northampton County cemeteries I've found so far is at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csr&CScnty=1716 There are 88 listed which includes family cemeteries. findagrave.com information is supplied by individuals so internments in each cemetery are by no means complete. You do not have to be a member to search the site or to reply to or post a message. However, they do ask you to register if you want to enter data. I encourage you to do so. Not long ago, I was searching for one individual on the findagrave site when I spotted a message posted by someone seeking information on a next door neighbor of mine sixty or so years ago in Anson, Jones, Texas. I was able to furnish data to two individuals and discovered a family connection for myself which I had not known about previously. Amazing how sharing works. I'm still seeking information, including burial sites, on both ancestors and descendants of William Herbert HUGHES 1817-1896 and Anna Florence DAVIS Hughes 1947 -1901 and Sarah BRANCH Hughes in late 1700's - early 1800's Virginia and North Carolina. Thanks again Tom for your assistance. Jeanell HUGHES Timmons jeanelltimmons@yahoo.com

    3. Earl, I would love to have the 14 children of Laura to enter in my data base as well as information on the father. Usual stuff of course, three dates with locations, etc. I will put you in as the source. As with much of my collection, it is from other folks so I personally do not have the actual sources, rather than people as a Source such as yourself. I have had a great contribution from folks over the years and it is all in the data base. Much history is on Peele.info? Finishing my month vacation in Europe, in England this week. Martha died in Spiceland, IN, in April of 1850. Presume she went there to be with some of her children. Josiah had died earlier in 28 October 1833. Josiah was a Northampton Co leader in the manumission movement of slaves to Indiana, I guess in the 1820s and 1830s. He made trips there I think, along with other families he was connected to. Many of his cousins and I think some children also moved there. The Josiah Parker papers are at Earlham College, Richmond, IN. They are also on line and can be accessed easily. John J. 1. Re: [NCNORTHA] Byrd, Tillery, Futrell, and Vann families of Northampton, Bertie, Hertford, and Halifax Counties
    2. Gerald Byrd
    3. Sorry, about the repetition but it's been a while since I've used the Northampton County list and I wasn't sure I had the right address. On my paternal side, I am researching the Byrd family. My father was Southgate Byrd who was born to Lonnie and Mamie Byrd in 1917.  My paternal grandfather was Lonnie Byrd.  Lonnie Byrd died during the great flu epidemic of 1918 and my  father was about 2 1/2 at the time so he never knew his father nor have we been able to find much information about him.  Lonnie Byrd married Mamie I. Tillery and they were married in Bertie County in the bride's home. I have dates for this.  Lonnie Byrd's father was William ("Tom") Thomas Byrd who was born in Rich Square c. 1859.  Tom Byrd's first wife was Rosa Smith, whose father was Arthur Smith.  My paternal grandmother Mamie Tillery's parents were E.P. Tillery and Mary Elizabeth Casper.  I have no information beyond this point with the Tillery line. My maternal grandfather was Benjamin Hilary Vann who was born in Northampton County to Charlie Thomas Vann and Mary Ana Long. He was born in the "Kirby" community of that county.  He married Bette Ruth Futrell, my maternal grandmother in 1912. The father of Charlie Thomas Vann was Jenkins Thomas Vann, who married Temperance Davis. From this point on it is rather sketchy who the father of Jenkins Vann was though my grandfather recalls that this Vann had a wife named Nancy Jenkins.  (no dates or verifiable evidence have been found to substantiate this.) My maternal grandmother was Bette Ruth Futrell.  Her parents were Alexander Futrell and Margaret Futrell.  I have been able to verify that the father of Margaret Futrell was Morris Futrell and that the father of Alexander Futrell was Benjamin Futrell and my research stops there. Any info on the Byrds and Tillieries would be most appreciated:  I hope to complete the paternal line of my family so I can pass this information on to my children and grandchildren. Gerald
