Evidently when James Richardson died, his wife remarried to John Rice, Sr. Her children from her first marriage, William Richardson and Randolph (later called Reddin, somenow), were in John Rice's Will. The Richardsons of Nash and the Rices have intermarried more than once, as well. There was also a Richardson Rice. I recently received the Wills and Deeds of Nash County compiled by both Dr. Stephen E. Bradley and Timothy Rackley. Prior to this I had not been able to find very much on Nash that was helpful to me. The first mention of the Rice's was a North Carolina land grant to John Rice for 400 acres on the waters of Lee's Creek and Spring Branch in 1783. Then in 1790 he acquires 140 acres on Turkey Creek. In 1796 John Rice acquires at auction 100 acres on the south side of the Tar River. Then in 1810 John Rice and Hopkins Rice both witness a deed on some Turkey Creek property. Where the confusion comes in is that it looks as if there are 3 John Rices, two of whom are at different times referred to as John Rice, Senior. One is married to Martha and one to Elizabeth, I think. Is this what you have worked out? It looks as if Martha and Patsy are one and the same from the Wills, doesn't it.
