Found this cemetery in Nash Co. at the intersection of NC 97 and Liles Road about 400 yards back up in a field behind what used to be Taylor's Shoe World (previously Daniel's Store). I do not have any further information on these but thought it might help someone. 1.. Marmaduk Ricks; born 1800, died Nov. 13, 1890 "Although he sleeps his memory doth live on" 2.. Henry H. Hi, Chris: Were the gravestones you listed easy to read or are they so worn that a guess had to be made of some of the names? These appear to be the graves of Marmaduke RICKS, with dates as you list, who married 8 March 1825 Nicey (Nash Co. Marriage Records shows name as Nicy)FINCH, with dates you list for Nancy, daughter of Claiborne FINCH and Sarah HUNT. The others you list are some of their children with the possible exception of Henry and Larges of whom I have no previous record. Some of my records are taken from the book 'FINCH FAMILIES OF DIXIE; 300 Years in the South' by Ruby Finch Thompson which I/we know contains some errors. In fact, some of the dates you list don't match the dates Ruby listed. She also has an 11 year gap in children from 1827 to 1828 so it is not impossible for there to be more children than she listed. I think that I will accept the dates listed on the gravestones in preference to what Ruby listed unless there is compelling evidence to the contrary; hence my question at the beginning of this message. Have you or are you submitting this cemetery survey to the NCGENWEB or NashCoGENWEB page for posting there? Thanks for posting this information. Rocky Strickland and I both connect to this line at the Claiburn FINCH - Sarah HUNT family.
