That sounds like the location of a cemetery I saw a few years ago that was so terribly overgrown I could not even begin to enter it. To get there from Mount Pleasant, head west on SR-1132. The cemetery is on the left side of SR-1132 about 4/10 mile past the intersection with SR-1106. This cemetery is in Tim Rackley's book, "Nash County North Carolina Church & Family Cemeteries A-J." but Hudson Finch is not listed. His son, Edward Buxton Finch, is buried there though. The only stone I could make out was for E. B. Finch, 1838-1918, and his wife Mary J. Finch, 1843-1918 (she was a Batchelor). The book lists just two other graves, N. W. Batchelor, 1818-1894, and Mary Jane Batchelor, no dates. My recollection is that the cemetery is big enough for more than four graves. Perhaps there are some unmarked ones there, or the person who surveyed it had as difficult of a time as I did of seeing what is there. If Hudson Finch is not buried there, then I do not know where his grave is located. If you go south on SR-1106 from that same intersection with SR-1132, there is a Glover/Finch cemetery on the right hand side about 1/2 mile down the road. This cemetery is larger and is also in Tim Rackley's book, but Hudson Finch is not listed there either. Rocky Strickland
I'm trying to locate the family cemetery where Joe Nathan Batts is buried. I think it's on what was the Batts farm in the Bend of the River area (maybe on Bend of the River Rd). I don't know the exact location of that farm, which was sold in the late 1920s or early 30s after he died. Howard Batts

Does anyone know of the burial place in Nash County, NC for: Edward MOORE, who was dead by October 1783 when his will was probated in Nash County. His wife was Elizabeth _______(maiden name unknown) who survived him. She was dead by 1789. Some of their children migrated to Alabama, others probably remained in and around Nash County, North Carolina. The MOORE's owned a great deal of land and they may have had a family cemetery on their home property, which seems to have been on Tar River. Additional land on both sides of Contentnea/Contentney (?) Creek, adjoined that of William PUGH. The land on the Creek was deeded to son William, who married Elizabeth PUGH. This couple was among the early settlers of Alabama prior to 1830, some of their children were born in NC, others in AL. Any suggestions and/or information on the MOORE and/or the PUGH families would be most appreciated. Thanks! Billie, in Birmingham

Helen Sharpe was kind enough to send me some info on one of my gggaunts: Mary Hammonds of Franklin Co., who married Cullen Braswell. Cullen died in 1855 and she is found in the 1860 census, age 50, with children: Willoughby,23; Nancy, 16, John, 10. An older daughter, Eliz. married Elbert C. Lewis. The 1870 census shows daughter Nancy married to Jesse Bass. There was a son, William, who was b. in 1835, but he does not appear in their census after 1850 (age 15). The other aunt, Martha Hammonds married William H. Abernathy. In Helen's info., it stated: Martha L. Abernathy d/o Wm. A. and Martha Abernathy m. 24 Sept. 1868. This is all the info that I have. If anyone could "shed" any light on any of these family members, I would be most grateful. Betty Hammonds Allison
