This particular William Rose was born in Nash County in the late 1700's, and had at least four children: John H. "Jack" Rose (1805-1882) Amos Rose (1789-?) William Rose (1804-?) Martin Decatur Rose (died in the Civil War in 1863) All of these sons moved to South Carolina around the 1830's, so their father William may have, too. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I have just joined this list and would like help in locating information on Emil Jacobs and family. He was listed in 1870, 1880, and 1900 Nash County Census. According to the Census, he was born in 1837 in Germany. His wife is Henrietta and children included Robert (this is John Robert b. 1874 and the line my husband descends); Willie b. 1876; Joseph E.b.1879; Frank b. 1881; Carl b.1886; Annie b. 1888; Ernest b. 1893. I have not been able to locate him in the 1870 census, although he is listed in the index. I can only assume Emil Jacobs arrived in Nash County just prior to 1870. Any help with this family would greatly appreciated. Anyone recognize any of these names? Thanking you in advance. Gloria Taylor

Peggy Jean Riddle (Texas) - my father-in-law It's interesting about the name. My father-in-law has been quite emphatic that "his" family spells it with an "i". So, who knows, maybe there was some disagreement :-) Anyway, I'd be very appreciative of any information you'd be willing to share...not just the genealogy, but especially the family stories and history. He had 13 children, of which 7 were boys. Half of his family (4 of the boys) used "Glovier"; the other half used "Glover." I knew both. I was told there was an argument in the family in the middle of the 19th century, and some of them put the "i" in, but I doubt that is correct. The Civil War records lists them both ways. Benjamin did have a son named Benjamin, my great-grandfather John's brother. He also had a son named Derrick. I have various records. JDG
