He usually went by A S Baines. He had an older brother named William. Asbury was born around 1838 -- I have to check my notes to be certain. There were 8 children in all I think. Their father's name was James Baines(died 1844) and their mother was Willey Whitfield Baines. When people see Willey in the old records they assume it is Milly but she was called Willey.

Surnames: Weldon, Boddie Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VUB.2ACE/668 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on the ancestors of Mary Ann E. Weldon, the daughter of Hardy & Lucy Weldon of Nash County, NC. Hardy died in 1843 shortly after his daughter married John Sanders Boddie. His will/estate file confirms these relationships, but provides no clues to his parents, siblings, cousins, etc. I have found only one other Weldon in Nash County and no tie between her and Hardy so far. The Weldon family was quite prominent in Halifax County, but I have not been able to find a Hardy in that line either. Any help would be very much appreciated.

She was the natural daughter of Samuel Westray, a very wealthy man in Rocky Mount. He died in 1894 and is supposed to have left her a farm. She is reported to have married and left a family. However, I do not know her husband's name.
