The East Coast Allred Family Association is hosting a Reunion in Randolph County, NC on September 12, 13 & 14, 2003. Everyone who descends from one of the many original settlers of Randolph County are invited to attend. Activities begin on Friday, September 12, 2003 when we will leave from Grays Chapel School at 9am to spend the day learning about the Regulators and the War of the Regulation. We will visit Alamance Battle Ground, the Brick Church, and historic Hillsboro. Saturday is the main Reunion day. Everything begins at 9am at Grays Chapel School. 9am: Registration 10am: Welcome Meeting: See who's there, how far did they travel, who's the oldest, youngest, and learn the activity schedule for the day. Noon: Pot Luck /Covered Dish Lunch 1-2pm: Blue Grass Music 2-3pm: Gospel Quartet 3pm: the Silent Auction ends and the last raffle winner announced. While the music and entertainment is happening in the school gym, various family genealogy meetings will be held around the school yard and in the cafeteria. Family displays will be available all day for you to enjoy. Raffle winners will be announced all during the day and Silent Auction items will be on display for you to view and bid on. All money raised goes to the East Coast Allred Family Association fund to help pay Reunion expenses and finance our abandoned cemetery restoration project. At 5pm Saturday evening, there will be a special Military Honor Ceremony held at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. This ceremony will honor Revolutionary War Veterans Semore York and Thomas York. These brothers fought on opposite sides during the war; Semore was a Loyalist and Thomas was an American Patriot. Both are buried at Sandy Creek Baptist. Included in the ceremony will be the unveiling of new tombstones for each brother, an Honor Guard will Present the Flags and give a 21 gun salute, The National Anthem will be sung and there will be 2 short speeches telling about each brother's military career. Sunday, Sept 14, is the final day of the reunion. The day's activities begin at 9am when we leave Grays Chapel School to spend the day touring family and historic sites in the county. We will be riding in a luxery bus for this trip and lunch will be at Capt. Tom's Seafood Restaurant at 1pm. We hope all of you will be able to join us.
