Hi Beverly and Betty -- I have an Angus Maynor born in Moore county in June 1877. What are the birth and death dates for Christina Nall? Also, where did they live in Texas? There are also some Nall families in the Putnam-Glendon area west of Carthage. The only Nall family I remember from Moore County was from the Lakeview area between Vass and Southern Pines on US # 1. Mike Nall and I played basketball together at Vass-Lakeview and then at Union Pines in the mid-60's. I haven't heard from him since graduation but I'm sure he still has family in the Lakeview area.. Hi Donna, No, as far as I can tell, the Birdsongs are not Indian. I too, have seen them in VA. Were yours in Amelia, Richmond, Essex or surrounding counties? Thanks for the 'plug' I appreciate it. But, I hope they will send the info to the Moore co. page, too. Hi to, Betty, Beverly and Betsey and any other of you folks on the Moore Co. list. The Tysons, Nall, and Birdsong families especially, were also in Chatham Co. so, if you haven't been, you might go there and see if there is anything that I might have put online for those names. The URL is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncchatha/chatham.htm But, I also wanted to ask you all, if you have any family data, such as pedigrees that you would be willing for me to put online as I have on the Chatham page, as "Moore Co. families". Your pedigree outlines might bring you in contact with others and help you with yours besides giving others a boost with their research. Hope everyone will think about this. I will put your name on the page that is linked with your copyright on it, if you wish. Anything you submit will remain your property. Thanks so much, Sue Ashby CC for Moore Co. page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncmoore/
Hi Sue, I just want to encourage those out there to put their information on the NC Moore-L@rootsweb.com that you have below. As you know I gave my information to you a few months back, and I have had several people contact me about my line. Had I not had my information there, I wouldn't have received valuable information to add to my line. Also I wanted to know if the name Birdsong is an Indian line? I am still trying to connect my John W. Scoggins to a Mary Birdsong in VA. Some of the dates that go with that John & Mary Birdsong just don't jive yet. Any way thanks again for all of your hard work, it has paid off for me and I am sure many others. Donna M. No, I don't have anything on this line, but I found the following that Bill Mele had on Maness/Nall. Front Center are John Wesley Maness born September 13, 1844 died July 17, 1922 and his wife Francis Bellzura Nall born June 11, 1848 died October 28, 1924. John Wesley and his children were born and raised in Moore County in the area called Hemp. The area where they lived is best described as junctions of Howards Mill Rd, Smyrna Rd, and Maness Rd just North of Robbins. From left to right on the back row are my grandfather Thomas Franklin Maness born December 21, 1880 in Moore County died July 27, 1963 in Chattam County. Next is his brother Lemuel Baxter Maness born June 23,1883 died December 20,1958 and his sister Sarah Francis (Maness) Hussey born May 28, 1896 died July 25, 1886. Both Sarah and Lemuel were born and died in Moore County. Together with their brother William Wesley Maness not shown ran a Cannery in Robbins approximately 1913. Later they closed the Cannery and opened a General Store on the corner of Maness Rd and Howards Mill Rd. The store was open for business until 1931. The old wooden building which housed the store has since been replaced with a cinder block building housing a small convenience store. All family members except for Thomas Maness are buried in Smyrna Methodist Church Cemetery. John Wesley is on the Moore County Civil War Honor Roll. If I get anything else, I'll let you know. PLEASE READ AND PLEASE DON'T REPLY OR DISCUSS ON LIST-----THANK YOU 1 JUNE 2002 RE: IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM ROOTSWEB. Starting today (Monday, 10 June 2002), RootsWeb will begin the process of upgrading their servers to new hardware. This means some lists will be unavailable during this time and we won't be able to post or receive messages. If our list is affected, Rootsweb will halt operation on the particular machine our list is on to complete their move. If you post a message, you might not see it come out on the list, nor will you receive any list messages. Don't panic! It just means our list is probably one of the ones currently being worked on. Rootsweb doesn't expect to lose any messages, but the lists will be down for a while while this changeover occurs. PLEASE don't post "why aren't I getting mail" during that time; you will when it comes back up, and you don't want half of it to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting mail. If you have trouble reaching other RW lists this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three... Thanks Folks ! Cliff Fiveash Listowner

Hello List, In case you haven't heard about this... Just wanted to let you know that I've put up three new additions to the Moore Co. page, with many thanks to Nancy Rawlinson and her mother, who have surveyed two Moore Co. cemeteries and sent the links to me. They are: Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Aberdeen http://www.eccentrix.com/artist/webmaven9/cemetery/bethesda.html United Methodist Church Cemetery in Carthage http://www.eccentrix.com/artist/webmaven9/carthageunitedmethodist.html Nancy is even placing photos of the tombstones in this one. Lastly, Nancy is extracting the Moore Co. school census records that were taken between 1916 and 1922. This one isn't finished yet but she says she has most of 1916 done. The link to it is: http://www.eccentrix.com/artist/webmaven9/ And, if you haven't been to the Moore Co. site, where all this is located, please do visit there. The main page is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncmoore/ Enjoy!! Sue Ashby, CC for Moore Co. USGenWeb Project
