    1. Re: [NCMOORE] Warner - Fry
    2. Bill, the marriage date for Rachel Barber, b. 1840 in Richmond Co., NC, and Edward Warner, b. 1833, is Mar 24, 1862. The ceremony was performed in Moore Co. by W. B. Richardson, Justice of the Peace, Moore Co., NC. That's all I have on Edward Warner, but it sounds like the same person as your Edward. If you find any definite proof of this in your researching, I'd appreciate an email from you. Thanks, Sherry Inman

Colen McKENZIE born 1823 in Moore Co. 2. Margaret Ann. McKENZIE born 1824 married Michael BRYANT moved to AR. 3. Eliza J. Born 1825 died before 1850 4. Daniel McKENZIE born 1828 later moved to Houston, TX. One of his children married Samantha CADDELL. 5. Isabella P. McKENZIE born about 1830 married George BRASHEARS moved to Texas. Do you know them? Does anyone else know them? I am very interested to find the proper parents for Elizabeth. Thank you, Cathy Farris

    2. Yes, there were several members of the Warners that remained in Moore Co. John Warner Sr. and spouse Pharaba Mears Warner left there and came to Bedford Co. Tn. sometime in the early 1800s. Their oldest daughter, Zilla Warner became the spouse of Absolom Fry. I believe they were married in N.C., pollibly in the transit from there. Many times it took families several years to go from one location to another. Thanks for your note. Bill Fry

    1. James McIllwin/McIlwain b. abt 1820-1822 NC
    2. Dear Fellow Researchers: I am on the tracks of a James McIllwin/McIllwain, Macklewinne b. between 1820-1822 according to census records. I have located him on the Moore Co., NC census records for the years 1850 (at age 28) and 1860 (age 39) with wife Caroline/Cllinda b. 1825 in NC and in 1870 he was in Sampson Co., and in 1880 in Richmond Co. I suspect that he and his wife married in Moore Co. In 1850 they have the following children: Mary E. 4 Ann M. 3 Patience Eliza 1 So, I am guessing they married around 1845. The name has been mutilated on census transcriptions. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Karen Florida

They had a number of children George, Boss Dora, Juila, etc. I am trying to achieve how they got there last name, I think they worked on the Ritter plantation. Also, I am trying to go about it sort of free of little expense. I know one of the counties was Moore County in N. Carolina. I have been to a number of sites, but I have been coming up to no avail. I am trying to find the generation before Thomas. Can you help me please. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo! Messenger

    3. Hi...I too have been trying to search the Freeman's and Dunn's from both Moore and Montgomery Co. NC. My gg grandfather was William H. Freeman b. l8l7 married to Hannah Dunn Freeman b. l8l9. I have had very little luck as both counties have had fires...I feel you already know that. We have had a DNA match on our line of Freeman's. I first found my gg grandfather in Montgomery Co. NC in the l850 census. He and Hannah had children by then. The person we matched to came from the Freeman's from Chesterfield Co. SC. We are now searching for this line in that county. So far, we know of a Jesse and if you would like, I can send you some info on this family. A lady has done research on this line for 35 years...but can't get past Jesse. Now with more of us working together, mabey we will make a break through. I have used a lady to do research for me at the Archives. Her name is Linda Allred Cooper and she did a great job for me. If you would like to have her email, let me know and I will send it to you. If appears we could all be kin. 1. Surname Interest: Kitching/Kitchin/Kitchen, land owners 1780's,
    2. Kay Bachmann
    3. My ancestor Matthew Kitching entered land on Pissimon Branch before 1785, and around the same time he entered land on Heard's Creek and Governor's Creek. A Kinchen Kitchen, relationship to Matthew, if any, unknown, was an early land owner in Moore County, acquiring land by at least 1781. This reference to him appears in A History of Moore County, p. 94: "The first court [of newly formed Moore County] was held [Monday, August 16, 1784] at the dwelling on Kenchion Kitchen. This house, according to Mr. R.E. Wicker, was located about two and a half miles northwest of preset day Cameron, on the southeast side of Herd's Creek and on what was variously known as the "Chair," Cheraw, Seals, and Pee Dee Road." Also owning land nearby was a William Kitchen. I have some additional information of these individuals. Any listers with Kitchen connections? Kay

    3. Dear Ms. Frady - Could you please check your records for the birth of an Atlas Jones Martin, born around December 22, 1820 in Moore County, NC? I, and now deceased relatives before me, have been searching for the mother of my ancestor, Atlas Jones Martin, for many, many years. Atlas J. Martin was the son of John Bethune Martin (b. abt. 1791) and Unknown. Atlas Jones (not to be confused with Atlas Jones Martin) was a prominent citizen of North Carolina and a close friend of John B. Martin, his brothers, Angus and Farquar Martin and their father, Murdock Martin (who had a "natural child"). The Martins were of Scottish descent and broke with naming patterns unless Atlas Jones Martin's mother was somehow kin to Atlas Jones. I have found no evidence of such and the family of Atlas Jones seems to be pretty well documented. My great-grandmother and other cousins gained entrance into the Colonial Dames (back in the 1930's or so) via Nancy Hill Harris, wife of John Bethune Martin, before anyone realized that Atlas Jones Martin was born about 5 years before they were married. If marriage bonds are also published in your book, could you also check for a John B. Martin? We've been searching for a marriage record for a John Martin in or around Moore County, NC between about 1810 - 1820. I found a notation of marriage bond for a John Martin and an Elizabeth or Betsy Johnson or Johnston about 1810 in Cumberland County, NC. I don't know if that could be "my" John Martin since it was certainly not an unusual name. Anyway, I truly appreciate you checking on this for me. Thanks so much for your help.
