    1. [NCMONTGO] Worm hitting the list
    2. Cathy Cranford-Ailstock
    3. Hi folks, It is here. One of our members is infected, she is aware of it and is trying to get it off her machine but is struggling with it. I just want you all to be aware that this worm will do like this. Say this message, it will go into her inbox, it will take this message, and then reply to it. So that it looks like me or whoever else has written it is trying to help someone, and at the bottom of say this message, it will have only one sentence written. "See the attachment" and then the attachment attaches itself to the message and sends it out to all who is in her inbox, and all other folders. Each attachment is different and ranges from "I am fat" "hamster" "nude photo" "images" "readme" and so on. The real bug/worm is named w32.badtrans.13312@mm and again, I have no idea why that highlights when I type it out other than maybe it is the @ symbol causing it, but please don't click on that either. I am not infected but I don't know where it would take you so don't click on it. I am not clicking it to find out. :) Anyhow, if you get mail that looks like someone is trying to help you with your research and it only says the one thing at the bottom "see attachment" or something very similar, and is also hooked to an original message that was sent out, please, please don't open. Say it replies to one of my messages, you would then think that I am sending a marriage or something similar to you and you would open it. This happened to my mom when she wrote to England for help a week or so ago. I opened the attachment for her on her machine because I also thought someone was trying to help her, wrong. It is just the way the bug works. I will NEVER send an attachment to anyone without first writing at the top of the message a long winded reply telling you all about the attachment and several things that will not relate to the attachment but about myself. I am long winded and if you ever get a short message from me, beware. It is not from me. Those of you who have talked with me, know that I go on and on like the energizer bunny, telling you all my personal life, etc. So please don't open these attachments, even if it comes from your own mother, don't open it. You mom did not and I repeat, did not send it. Only means that your mom's message came into someone's machine who is infected and it took your mom's message and turned around and sent it back out. Does not mean that your mom would be infected, only that your mom's message came to someone who is. I hope this helps keep you all safe. Just remember, don't open anything that says, "see attachment". And please don't be angry at the person who might become infected. Most times they do not know it happened until someone lets them know. And this worm is a stinky in that it makes you think someone is trying to help you. Especially if you get the "readme" attachment like I did. "Nude photo" would scare me off, but "images" would make you think that someone is sending, say, a marriage record to you in an attachment. Don't open and write back and ask if they had just sent you an attachment. Reading the message will not infect you, but opening the attachment will. It is an easy worm to get rid of and I recommend that all go here to study up on how it works so as to be prepared if it happens to you. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.13312@mm.html Ok, I will not talk about it anymore, but I had to tell you guys one more time, I worried that it will attach to my messages and make you all think I was sending you a marriage. I am not going to send anything for some time to come, folks. I am too busy trying to get them online, once I am done, then I may do something like that but not now. And if I did/do, I would write you a terribly long message like the one above in the process due to my love of hearing myself type. :)) RIP Mr. Ball, we loved your smiley faces and now you will draw them in heaven.
