Deborah, Herman Ferguson's book of will abstracts for Mecklenburg County lists William Smith whose will was dated 25 Feb. 1800 and was probated April 1808. One of his daughters was named Sarah WATSON. Others mentioned were wife Isabella; daughters Mary and Jane. Sons were John, Robert, William, and Thomas. Sons-in-laws were William and James Stewart and daughters-in-law Margaret Stephenson and Elizabeth. Number 632, p. 191, Will Book F. Death records go back to only 1913 in North Carolina, and birth might have been a year or two later. Because of the proximity to South Carolina which did not require bonds, many Mecklenburg couples were married across the border. Janie Elms Matthews ----- Original Message ----- From: Deborah L.
