I am looking for a Benjamin R SMITH ca 1807 who married Nancy S REA in 1832. They had a son Samuel P SMITH born in 1835, probably in Charlotte who married Kate LAWSON in 1859. (Ch: Robert, Benjamin, Sarah, Samuel in 1870 census) (Samuel was supposed to be a bank president in Charlotte.) This was just information given to me and I have no sources. I don't know what records are available for Mecklenburg Co. I would think Samuel might be have been in the Civil War but don't know where to start. Could someone please tell me where to go from here. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Debbie S
