For what it's worth, there's a Moses Purser listed as a member of the Mecklenburg County Troops, Second Regiment on page 56 of THE HISTORY OF MECKLENBURG COUNTY, 1740-1900 by J. B. Alexander. That's the only Purser isted in the Surname Index.
