I was interested in anyone doing research on Aaron McWhorter (the one who died in Lincoln Co. TN in 1837. I can not seem to find out who his wife was and I also need info on his father Henry. Does anyone know when they got to Meck. NC? And where they were before this? Terry
Hello Mecklenburg county Listers: I am trying to secure information on one Madalene Vinesett, her father was Lucius Thedell Vinesett and she married John Haney. I have no other info on her. I would like to know her DOB - DOD - and burial site. If the marriage certificate or death certificate can be secured I would be glad to pay any cost anyone may encure. Thanks in advance and I hope all have a very lovely day. Bob Vinesett Robert Vinesett vinesetr@bellsouth.net A Proud Sponsor of RootsWeb Are You? www.quickinfo247.com/279318

There was a Henry Marlin McWhorter whose will was probated in 1830 in Mecklenburg Co., and who had no children. He was a son of Aaron McWhorter, who settled on the southside of Finley Cr., and his will was probated 1799 naming his wife, Fanny, sons: Moses & Henry Marlin; daughters: Jennet, Fanny & Keziah. There is also found an Aaron McWhorter, the son of George McWhorter and his wife, Elizabeth. They also had sons: Moses, George, James & John and daughters: Elizabeth, Rose & Agness. The will of Aaron McWhorter was probated in 1806, in which in left his plantation (farm) to son Aaron. Geoge McWhorter's land was on Waxaw Creek, east of the Catawba River, in the extreme southern portion of eary Mecklenburg Co., NC. In the 1790 US Census of Mecklenburg Co., NC there is found an Aaron McWhorter with a female head of house, one male child and three female children. The Rev. (Dr) Alexander McWhorter, of Maryland, was a president of Queen's Museum (school) in Charlotte and helped organize the Steele Creek Presbyerian Church. I would not discount Virginia, Pennsylvania or Maryland as possible origins of migration for these families.
