Mecklenburg; originally formed from ANSON Co, NC in 1763 Mecklenburg county included present-day Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, Rutherford, and Union Cos, (NC); In South Carolina all or parts of Chester, Cherokee, Greenville, Kershaw, Lancaster, Laurens, Newberry, Spartanburg, Union and York Cos (SC) Mecklenburg was bordered by Rowan county in the North, East by Anson county and in the South by South Carolina. This was sent to help update where the area was that old Mecklenburg existed in 1763. We are encouraging all area residents to submit their particular family heritage story to be published FREE in an upcoming book "The Heritage of Old MECKLENBURG CO, NC 1763-2003" Each Family/Household may submit up to 500 words and a picture. Also we are asking for community heritage stories, churches, clubs and organizations as well as a special VETERAN SECTION (100 words and a photo .10 per word, and $12.50 for photo) These are limited 250 words and a photo. Community and general topics with photos are being compiled and will be combined with the submitted family histories.
