Although tradtional, family naming patterns have subsided over the generations, (of course 2.5 kids as the modern day average per family doesn't leave too much room for naming patterns), there are some naming patterns that continue to be used. One such naming pattern is the use of a paternal or maternal grandmother's maiden name, seemingly more so for a son. The name James Wiley Russell certainly fits this pattern. In my case my middle name is Kemp, my paternal grandmother's maiden name. My son's middle name is Lee, his maternal grandmother's maiden name, and my first name. Family naming patterns can be helpful for developing a research stradegy.
