William Alexander Kerr m. Dorcas Shelby, my aunt, and they had children: Milton, William, Harvey, Margaret, Mary C., Jonas R. ...Kerr. Jonas Kerr m. Mary Isabelle Alexander, d/o Wm. Taylor Alexander and Mary (Shelby) Alexander, his wife, and also the sister of Dorcas Shelby above. Jonas Kerr died in 1848 and Mary Isabelle (Alexander) Kerr remarried a Capt. Henry Munger Pittman; they lived in Wythe, later Hickory Wythe, Fayette Co., TN. Rich heritage here. The Shelby's were my aunts and also my 1st cousins. They were children of my aunt, Susannah Polk Alexander, and her husband, Dr. Evan Shelby [ancestors of Sen. Richard Shelby of AL]. Another sister, Susannah Shelby, married my 3G greatgrandfather Daniel Alexander, s/o Wm. "Black Billy" Alexander...which made Susannah Shelby also my 3G great grandmother. Susannah Polk Alexander was d/o Benjamin and Susannah (Polk) Alexander of Mecklenburg Co., NC, who were my 5Ggreatgrandparents. Their son, Wm. "Black Billy", and Margaret (Clark), Alexander were my 4G's. Jonas R. Kerr and Dorcas Shelby had a dau. Mary Jonas Kerr b. Sept 1848. She m.
