Mecklenburg Co Deed Book 10 p 289 15 April 1778 James Harris, Sr. and wife Mary S. Harris, sold to James BENSON for L75 proc, 153 A being part of the Welch Tract and adjacent to the Barony line and the King’s line. Said land was deeded to Harris by 5 Feb 1771 by Anber Nash and wife Justina. Witnesses: James Neal and Thomas Benson. Proved in April 1778 Court by oath of Thomas Benson. Samual Martin Clerk of Court. (Abner Nash was Governer of NC).
