Cook ---- a son of Wm. and Margaret Cook. Wm. Cook's will was probated Apr 1841 term. His wife was with child, and if a son were born, to be named George Franklin Cook. James C. Cook's brothers and sisters were Wm. A., Amzi W., Samuel L., Ellen C. Wilson, Mark and Harriet Cook. James Cook ---- a son of Robert Cook, Sr., whose will was probated Nov 1832 term, two years before your James Cook. 1806, a James Cook found taxed as w/p (white person 21-50), but not a property owner. (Capt. Haynes Dist.) 1807, a James Cook found being taxed as w/p in Capt Reid's Dist., along with William Cook and Robert Cook, who appear to the the brothers in the will of Robert Cook Sr. On 2 June 1782, James Cook, Sr. deeds to Andrew Walker 200 acrs on the north fork of Low Creek, adj. Wm. McCorkle. A James Cook is found as a property owner and active as a juryman in old TRYON (fromed from Meckl.but abolished as Lincoln Co.) Tryon County: During Oct 1772 term of court a James Cook Ju'r (Jr) served on the grand jury. During 1776 term of court James Cook Senr's name was marked through to serve as a constable in place of Dav'd Heddlestgon. On 7 Aug 1787, James Cook obtained a state grant for 80 acres on the Catawba Riverl, including an island adj. Kotter (Carter), Givens, and Matthew Armstrong. On 6 Oct 1790, William Beaty of LINCOLN (County) deeds to James Cook 80 acres on E side of Catawba River, adj. Butler Givensl, Marthew Armstrong, and an island, which was entered by John Givins and transferred to James Cook to whom it was granted 7 Aug 1787. On 9 July 1794, James Cook obtained a state grant for 100 acres, with 12 acres covered with water adj. other lands of Cook.
