Hi: Does anyone on the list ahve any info. on Shem Yarbrough who was in the Mecklenburg area in 1840 and showed up on the 1850 Washington Co., Tenn. census in 1850. I believe he was also in the Mecklenburg are in 1830 and maybe even before. I am interested in knowing who his children were and also his grandchildren. Thanks! Joan

Liggett's Co.) shows Edmond Yarborough being taxed on 188 acres; Joshua Yarborough for 1 pole tax (18 + male); Reuben Yarborough 600 acres; Shem Yarborough for 200 acres; Shadrack Yarborough 200 acres. 17 Sept 1826, Shim Yarborough sold 120 acres on Richarson Creek to Beford Garris. Richarson Creek was in the SE corner of Mecklenburg Co. and was taken into Union Co., NC in 1842. I would take a look at Union Co., NC records. Shaderack Yarborough's land was also on Richarson Ck. He obtained a state land grant for his land in 1798. A Joshua Yarborough sold land on both sides of Onion Br. of Richardson Cr in 1786. This land was originally part of a state grant to Benjamin and Reuben Yarborough. Right off hand, I do not see any historical notes on the Yarborough family in Mecklenburg County.
