    3. Verna, I don't know enough about Elizabeth Smith to answer your question. In my Pettus family materials there are lots of Smiths who may or may not be relatives--if not relatives than no doubt neighbors. I cannot figure it out. I know that Susannah Pettus, born ca. 1800, daughter of Capt. George Pettus, married John Cheek Smith but there are others such as Thomas B. Smith and Edward Smith and then there is Sally Smith and her badboy grandson, William Smith. Every time they go to court some Pettus or other seems to be a witness. I simply cannot sort them out. Oh, and Paul Buchanan keeps wanting stuff put on the Mecklenburg Queries board. Since this is your family of Bowdens do as you like. You are welcome to post what I sent to you if you wish to do so and I will not post since there is certainly no need for us to both do so. Besides if there is a response to the Boweden info, it should go to you. Louise ---------- >From: "Verna Dinkins" <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [NCMECKLE] Arthur J.
