Debbie, There is a book titled THE GREAT WAGON ROAD BY Parke Rouse, Jr., a part of the American Trails Series, Edited by A. B. Guthrie, Jr., 1973, McGraw-Hill. Index has no mention of Watsons or McKees, but two Smiths: Francis W. and John. This is truly a history of the road, much more so than the people who traveled it.
