    2. The prison camp at Huntersville was a Chain Gang Camp in the 40's, 50's and 60's. My Grand Father (Millard A. Montgomery) was a guard there until his retirement in the late 50's. At that time it went by a number and unfortunately I don't remember the number. It was also a segregated camp and only housed "Colored" Prisoners. After the 60's, I can't add anything since I had joined the Navy and have been on the West Coast since. There was another camp out on the old Remount Rd. (now Tyvolla Rd.) in Charlotte. That was Camp Green. My G-Father was also a guard there in the late 40's before transferring to Huntersville and as a young boy I would sometimes spend a weekend with him at the camp. It was also a "Colored" camp.
