    1. [NCMECKLE-L] 1932 Yearbook for Central High School
    2. Going through "things," I found my mother-in-laws 1932 Yearbook for Central High School, Charlotte, NC - Snips and Cuts. Dr. Alexander Graham was Superintendent Emeritus; H. P. Harding was Superintendent of Charlotte City Schools; Elmer H. Garinger was Principal of Central High School; Emery Wister was a Senior and member of the Rambler Staff as Adv. Mgr. Pictures are still beautiful. Anyone have a relative there in 1932 as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior who would like a scanned picture?

They had the following children: Mary "Polly" ...SAMUEL WILLIS... etc. CIRCUMSTANCIAL EVIDENCE: Samuel Miller of Mecklenburg Co., NC had by his first wife two daughters, POLLY and AGNESS MILLER. NOTE: "Nancy" is the Scottish nickname for Agnes. Also, note the traditional naming pattern with the early famlies: the first son was named in honor of the paternal grandfather, and in many families after the Rev. War. the maternal grandfather. James and Nancy (Miller) Knox named their first son Samuel. Samuel Miller, the father of Polly and Agness Miller, left his will in Mecklenburg Co., NC 11 July 1811, and was probated Aug 1811, which means the Nancy Miller of your query was about 11-12 yrs of age. Samuel Miller's 2nd wife was Rebecca (Cook?) Other children named in his will are: 1. Hugh Lawson Cook, 2. Elizabeth Amanda, 3. SAMEUL Graham, and 4. WILLIS. 1. [NCMECKLE-L] Parks/Grey families
    2. BETSY FARLOW
    3. I would like to make contact with descendants of members of the Parks family of Mecklenburg Co.--Moses (1738-1828), his son George (1783-1827), and George's sons James, Moses Allen, Hugh Moore, George Dickinson, etc. This family for several generations belonged to the Providence Presbyterian Church. One of the Parks descendants was Henry Edward Cowan "Red Buck" Bryant, for years a journalist with the Charlotte Observer. Also interested in descendants of Hugh and Jane Parks Grey (daughter of the James Parks mentioned above, who moved to Haywood Co. NC about 1858). Hugh Grey was on the faculty of Davidson College and Superintendent of Mecklenburg Co. schools. Two of the children of Jane and Hugh Grey were James Parks Grey and Lula Grey. The brother of Jane Parks Grey, William M. Parks (1835-1919) also may have descendants still in the area. His children were John (stepson), Henry, Charles, Walter, Ella and Emma.

    2. Tony Arnold
    3. Hello, I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the name Louisiana (POWELL) PATTON (1874-1963). Around 1900, she married John Thomas PATTEN (or PATTON). They had 3 children: William Thomas, Mattie May, and Sara Eleanor and appear in the 1910 census of Oconee County, SC. I believe that Louie moved up to the Charlotte, NC later and maybe her children went with her. Mattie May married a man named SAFELY and Sara Eleanor married a man named MCFADDEN. Louisiana is buried with J.T. Patton in Old Liberty Baptist Church, in Westminster, SC.
