Poor Joy. You have tried and tried to get their attention. I think they are doing this as a joke. Just to be funny. Cause they are not exchanging any info. Could a Skipper relative have planned this to be funny? Love Lynn
Try this....it is on the bottom of a page I copied. http://data.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=drev&f5=51045 .....after drev& is f 5. It's hard to read. Then to stay in there click ......More information about this database Good luck, Joy
Try new data bases. the look on the list for the DAR records click on it. Good luck!

For some reason they really hid the DAR records away while they're free. I don't know if this is the only way, but I found them by choosing Search Center on the main page, then select database category Biographical Databases. When you search for your surname the results list will show the DAR database results. Good luck!
I must be dense, but on Ancestry.com webpage, I cannot discern how to access the DAR volumns. Help please and thank you. Constance

--------- Begin forwarded message ---------- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: 136 vols DAR records free to research on-line Date: Mon, 23 Aug 1999 16:47:05 -0400 Message-ID: <[email protected]> For 9 more days, www.ancestry.com is allowing non-members to research, free, all 136 vols of D.A.R.records. I was a dues paying member of www.ancestry.com last year, and used it almost daily. This year,I 'm using only the free databases [books] they add daily. Except at holidays, when they open everything up free, this 136 vols is the greatest amount of data to be viewd free. I'm a known critic of the old [50-100 years ago] DAR data. But most of it's good data. Like the LDS'S IGI,view with a critical eye. ENJOY! I have no ties to www.ancestry.com,or the D.A.R. or S.A.R. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Bill, Parrish is my married name. I've been divorced for over 20 years and have never researched the Parrish line, as my daughter cares nothing about genealogy -- unfortunately. I do know that my ex-husband's father, William Arley PARRISH, came from Soddy Daisy, TN. That's all I know about them. My ELTONs were in Mecklenburg County, NC. bp ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, August 22, 1999 2:35 PM Subject: Re: [NCMECKLE] JOHN H. My 3rd great grandfather, John Harris Grier, married a widow named Martha Emiline Smith Bowden on 10 Mar 1846 in Mecklenburg County. Martha had a son named Samuel D. Bowden, born 30 Sep 1841. Do you have the name of her first husband in your files? I am searching for any information on Abraham ELTON b. 1750 possibly in County Down, Ireland. Abraham was a revolutionary war soldier, immigrated from Ireland to PA, then to Mecklenberg County, NC and finally settled in Washington, GA in 1784. He died in 1826 and his estate was administered by his sons James, Charles and John L. Elton. I am especially interested in his wife's name; it might have been Elizabeth (maiden name unknown). Any help would be appreciated. bp
