Hi all! I've been lurking on the list for a few months, but haven't seen anything yet so decided to post. I am descended from the Barringer and Bradford lines that intermarried, and possibly the Hunters but don't know where they fit in and hoping someone here can answer that for me. My lines go as follows: BARRINGER: 1. Nicholas Barringer b. 1768 in Rowan Co m. march 4, 1794 to Christina Peeler d. 1840 in Rowan Co. 2. Charles Barringer b. Feb 3, 1804 Rowan Co. m. Feb 3, 1824 to Mary M. Redwine d. ? uncertain prob in Mecklenburg or Cabarrus Co. I've seen references to him being in Iredell Co. around 1860 (off the top of my head, decade could be wrong). The only other Charles Barringer from this the 1800s I've seen was black from Charlotte who served in the Spanish-American War, and 1 in IL who served in the Civil War 3. Mary Clarissa Barringer b. May 26, 1836 Rowan Co. m. ? to John Bradford (she was married to a Kluttz before John..I have Kluttz's name, just not on hand. Also married a Garrison after John died) in Cabarrus or Mecklenburg Co. d. Feb 27, 1920 Cabarrus or Mecklenburg Co. She is buried at the Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church next to John. BRADFORD: 1. David Bradford b. abt 1720 prob. PA m. Mary Lancaster abt 1730-50 in PA d. 1779 Poplar Tent, Cabarrus Co. 2. James Bradford b. 1762 PA m. Rachel Hare/Hayr d. Nov 29, 1844 Poplar Tent, Cabarrus Co. 3. John Bradford b. Jan 20, 1812 Cabarrus Co. m. Mary Clarissa Barringer d. April 4, 1878 Cabarrus Co (was first m. to Elizabeth A. Atwell who he had 11 children with and I am looking for their names if you can provide me with any info) 4. Harry Bradford b. Dec 9, 1873 Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co. m. Gertrude "Gertie" G. Fisher d. Jan 3, 1930 or 1946 (I've seen 2 different years)Cornelius, Mecklenburg Co. 5. Fred Hunter Bradford (where I first see the name Hunter with this line), my grandfather. b. Nove 28, 1915 Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co. m. Mary Frances McNeill d. Sept 1970 Mt. Airy, Surry Co. FISHER: 1. William G. Fisher m. Mary Howard. This is all I know about him. I would appreciate if someone could fill me in on the details:) 2. Gertrude "Gertie" G. Fisher b. Sep 17, 1879 Charlotte, Mecklenburg m. ? Harry Bradford d. Jan 3, 1930 Cornelius, Mecklenburg Co. HUNTER: This is a new line for me. I was sent a bunch of info for the Bradford family from a relative and included was a list of names of Hunters with no apparent connection. I feel they were tied in somehow given that grandpa Fred's middle name is Hunter and I am hoping maybe someone can help me with this. I have since misplaced the list but do remember the names were from around the late 1800's in Mecklenburg Co., probably Charlotte. As soon as I find the list, I'll email the info. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. I can also put you in touch with 2 other Bradford researchers if any of us can connect. You've been a big help in the past and continue to be so. Thanks so much! Kind regards, Philip
Philip, The Rodden book by Paul Rodden states: "Elizabeth, daugther of John and Mary Jackson Rodden immigrated to Mecklenburg Co. According to "descendents of Henry Byram of Va" by Mark B. Byram, III (1956), Elizabeth Rodden and Ezekiel Byram were married in Essex Co., Va. Ezekial, for abt 1731 in Essex Co, was the fifth son of James and Elizabeth Byram. mark Byram states that Elizabeth and Ezekial had Eleven children, four of whom he names saying that all four were in either Maury or Franklin counties in Tennessee by 1811. Those four were: 1. Henry Byram, d. in Civil War; m. 1803 Mary Stampier Cook in Meck Co., NC 2. John Byram 3. Benjamin Byram 4. James J. Byram. This is all that he has about the children of Elizabeth and Ezekiel Byram. (I find it hard to believe that Henry, child #1 died in the Civil War. He must have been ancient by that time) Linda Blackwelder ----- Original Message ----- From: Philip Sheppard <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 28, 1999 1:28 AM Subject: [NCMECKLE] Byrum, Rodden, Berryhill: Steele Creek > Looking for descendants of Ezekiel and Elizabeth Rodden Byrum. Looking for descendants of Ezekiel and Elizabeth Rodden Byrum. I'm supposing the Steele Creek area as their surnames are common there. Also looking for the parents of both William A. and Mary E. Rodden Berryhill.I think that Mary is buried at Mulberry Church. At least one daughter, Emma Jane Berryhill who married William Alexander Neal (both buried at Mulberry). Thanks, Philip Sheppard (who will spend the rest of his life trying to sort out the Berryhills and Roddens!) Beaufort, South Carolina

Hello, Does anyone happen to know where Muddy Creek Baptist Church (circa 1789) might be located .....and even better...know where a picture might be located ? I received an excerpt from a document that indicated the Mullikins gave land for the church and that some of the church members were "the Hamptons, Paynes, Spaughs, Douthits [my line], Packs, Brindles, Haynes, Cooks....Jarvis families". Thank you....Malinda Jones

Philip, I have a book on the Rodden family. I will be glad to check in it for anyone you are looking for. Unfortunately, I will be off the net in a few minutes and for the next week. If you can send me what you need on the Roddens next Sunday, I will be back home and can have some time to look for it. There are Berryhill-Rodden connections of Steele Creek in it. Hi again Philip, Yes I would like to know who's niece? No, I don't have Thomas Pricie Berryhill parents, I have been looking a very long time and still trying also to sort out these berryhill's. I have a lot of information but it takes time to sort them out. Maybe it will help if I found Cynthia parents. Thanks Debi
