    3. Harry, I received the information about his marriage from some document. I can't remember now which one. I am just having a hard time trying to locate his parents, who his parents were, etc. I believe he had an older brother Hugh. There is a Hugh that shows in the 1820 census, but can't be sure if that is he. Thanks a lot for getting back with me. 3. I have gathered some information and several 'cousins' have added more, but I am looking for more information on Joseph WISHART (c1717-1794) and his family. His Will, proved in January Term, 1795 Mecklenburg Co, NC gave to his wife Margaret, to the children of his daughter Mary deceased, who was wife of James COBURN; to Margaret, his second daughter & wife of Robert MC COMB; and to his youngest daughter Elizabeth HARSHAY alias WILSON, who was first married to HARSHAY & is now to said WILSON. Joseph had a wife Elizabeth (c1736-1784) who is buried beside him. Said WILSON is William Wilson. Any information on the WISHART, COBURN, MC COMB, HARSHAY, or WILSON line will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kathy Hook

    2. IIRC , in NC marriges were required by law to take place in the county of residence of the bride (in order to prevent kidnapping of brides ?). So, while it will tell you where to look for the bride's family....the groom might have come from a different county altogether. Malinda p.s. 3. James N. Spratt would have been the bondsman for the marriage and B. Oates was the Clerk of the court at that time that would have issued the bond. This was the only information on a marriage record of that time. Parents names were not given until about 1870. (By the way, that date is not the date of marriage but the date the bond was issued.) They lived in an area that to this day is still referred to as Ferrelltown, Mecklenburg County. I have a copy of a letter that J.B.
