I am new so may be some of you more experienced researchers could give me an idea as to what is going on with this site. I'd appreciate any help. So far I'm pretty disappointed in my investment. 1. [NCMECKLE] Thompson
    2. I have been going back through the Abstracts book (curiosity more than anything) and ran into the following: Abstract of will of Dorcas Whiteside P234 Dorcas Whiteside, 4 Jul 1819, prb in Aug 1819 Ct. by Dr. Wm. Macklean. I, Dorcas Whiteside, alias Dorcas Thompson, spinster, being in a low state of health, will to my mother Jane Whiteside, after all my just debts are paid, all the remainder of my estate money, securities, goods, chattal, and personal effects. It is my hope that she will distribute a part of my clothing among my female relations. Sole exr: Friends Stephen McCowon. Wit: (Dr.) Wm. Macklean, Jurat, and Samuel Neely, Jurat. Isaac Alexander. CMC. (What does this one mean? "alias Dorcas Thompson, spinster?" She has the name Whiteside and refers to her mother as Whiteside, she has a surname of Whiteside alias Thompson, says she is a spinster so Thompson is not her married name like the bit about giving clothes to her female relations, almost sounds like an "early Gertrude Stein". Maybe her mother married a Thompson, then a Whiteside; also maybe her father was a Thompson and she is illegitimate). Also found this in the appendix: Following are listed in the appendix as being testators whose wills were abstracted and published in book by Brent Holcomb Jennings Thompson 1785 D-26 (page 67 in Holcomb book) John Thompson 1790 D-109 (page 68) Thomas Thompson 1781 D-120 (page 68) Unfortunately I don't have the book but let me know if you need the complete title etc.

    1. [NCMECKLE] David Tasker REESE and Mary WILSON
    2. I am searching for information about Mary Wilson. A book I read said she was from a prominent family of South Carolina Presbyterian ministers. By reading about Presbyterian ministers, I have found a family of Wilson with a lot of ministers. The family I found was in Lincoln CO., NC, but it could be the right one any way, since Lincoln CO. NC, is close to SC. Does anyone have any information on how she is related to the prominent family of Presbyterian ministers?? 2. These are my HOWSER relatives. Robert Ward HOWSER died in Charlotte, NC, in Nov of 1947. I know his brother Roy HOWSER also lived in Charlotte, NC, for some period of time. I am really wanting to know about the descendants of siblings of Robert Russell HOWSER, if anyone knows about them. 3. Hi, My Wilson cousins have said that William Wilson & Elizabeth (Wishart) Harshay Wilson had: John & William Some pages I received from Yates Publishing give these two sons and a daughter Isabel...certainly not proven yet. Since I descend from the first Wishart daughter, Mary, I have to check with the Wilson cousins for answers on Elizabeth's families. That's why it takes longer to answer. Will keep looking. 3. I looked this up for you in the 1850 census and John C. Weddington is listed with his wife Elizabeth but they do not have any children at this time. What exactly are you looking for ? Oh, this is found on roll 637 p.91 and they were listed in Mecklenburg Co. NC. I also looked on my CD index and John C. is listed on quite a few CD with Family Tree Maker. Hope this helps. Can someone please do a lookup in the familytreemaker file and see if you can find the following person: John C. Weddington, b. 1824, died 5 July 1900 in Mecklenburg County. John was a farmer and resided in Union County, N.C. He married Elizabeth Hartt on 24 April 1849 in Union County. Both John and Elizabeth are buried in the Philadelphia Presbyterian Church cemetery, Mint Hill, N. C. John had one son who was William Green Weddington who was my Grandfather.
