    3. Hi - I'm searching for ISBELLs and, of course, any information i can find. Littleton ISBELL married a Caron _____ in Surry County and they had several children: Christopher, John (who married Martha HAYNES in 1845), Elizabeth (who married William HOLDEN), Mary/Polly (who married Benjamin WEEKS), Richard/Dick (who married Julia STILWELL), and Nancy (who married Jethro MORGAN). John is my ancestor, however, i'm searching anybody/everybody! I have a newspaper article from the October 2, 1862 Asheville News that says John Isbell was shot "dead on the spot through his heart....in an horrible affray with J.C. Neal". If anyone knows more about this incident, or where i could find out more information, and where John Isbell might be buried (I couldn't find that information at the NC Archives), I'd love to hear from you. John married Martha Haynes and they had several children: Arrista, Alphonzo, Buena Vista, Anna, Eldorado, Nevada, Cero. While these all seem to be spanish names, i have not been able to find any spanish ancestry yet, or why they might have been given these names. After John's death, Martha left with most of the children for Havana, IL. Within a year or two of John's death, Benjamin Weeks (Mary/Polly's husband) also died, as did Richard Isbell. It looks like Caron (the mother) lived with John's family first for awhile, and then Benjamin Weeks' family. I would love to share information. I do not have anything any further back than Littleton (and, not much on him), and i would love to get more information on any or all of these family members if anyone else researching these individuals.
