They may or may not be related to your Modes, morphed into new variety. The Mode I believe to be mine is J. W. Mode, b. 1812, with daughter Susanah Elizabeth, b. 1845, in the McDowell Co. census transcription. Family history rumors him to have been from Pennsylvania, and to have fought for the North during the Civil War. This may or may not make him different from the other Mode personalities at this time and place.
