I am trying to locate the grave of a 3rd great grandfather, Alexander W. Lowery who was born in 1831 in Yancey County, NC and resided in McDowell Co. He was the husband of Rachell McKinney (d/o Charles E. McKinney and Elizabeth Lowery of McKinney Gap, Mitchell Co.) of McDowell Co. (died in McDowell Co. in 1904) and he was a member of the NC 49th Reg. Troops. He was injured at Malvern Hill, VA on 01 July 1862 and died five days later in Richmond on 6 July 1862.
