It is believed that Thomas died in McDowell Co, NC about 1815. Thanks for any help. Here is what is known of him: Thomas CURTIS, born abt 1740 in VA; died abt 1815 in Burke, NC. He married abt 1770 in Randolph, NC Eleanor BRYANT, born abt 1750 in VA; died abt 1810, daughter of John BRYANT. Notes for Thomas CURTIS PROPERTY: Resident of 1763 Rowan Co, NC. Randolph Co, NC land grant indicates Thomas had land prior to 1763. Located on both sides of Caraway Creek adjoining Samuel Lowe. Note: Guilford Co was formed from Rowan Co in 1771. Note: Randolph Co was formed from Guilford Co in 1779. Randolph Co, NC, entered land grant 10 May 1780, grant was issued on 2 Nov 1784. Randolph Co, NC, 1780, Made entry for 150 acres on both sides of Caraway Creek, including James Curtis' improvements. Randolph Co, NC, 1786, deeded 150 acres to James Curtis. Randolph Co, NC, 18 Sep 1792, deeded 250 acres on Caraway Creek, adjoining Samuel Lowe, to Lennard Ellord. Burke Co, NC, 2 Mar 1809, Thomas Curtis to Benjamin Curtis, a deed of gift for various species of property therein specified, proved in court by the oath of Joshua Curtis. MILITARY: Dec session 1781 Court of Pleas and Qtr Sessions, Randolph Co, NC, Thomas Curtis, Samuel Curtis, Benjamin Curtis, and John Curtis, having been charged with joining the British army, appeared and were discharged for want of testimony and took the oath of allegiance to the State of NC.
