I found the old Simmons home on Harmony Grove Road in Nebo, Mcdowell County. It was built in 1873 by Andrew Simmons. He and his sons, along with a negro man named Gus Tate, made the bricks, and built the house. It is situated at the base of a hill, down from the grave of Lydia Burchfield Hunter! The land was probably given to Andrew by his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Lydia Hunter. The present owners have let the house go "down" a little. I took some photos of it, and also have the old photos of it as well.
