I am researching the Reel family line of McDowell Co., NC: The Reels settled along Crooked Creek. The family was in Rowan/Lincoln (Tryon)/Burke Co prior to the formation of McDowell Co. in 1842. George Reel, Jr and wife Mary Stroup Reel had these children: Nancy m. Thomas Keever (remained in Linclon Co) John m. Mary "Polly" Morris (Burke Co) died in 1829 Daniel m. Elizabeth Moody (remained in Lincoln Co) Michael m. Christian Hicks (line remained in McDowell Co) Elizabeth "Lizzie" m. William Bright (line remained in McDowell Co) Catharina (Catharine) "Caty" m. William Hogan (line remained in McDowell Co.) Susannah m. Elijah Morgan (Line remained in McDowell Co.) Barbary m. Jacob Pancake (went to Knox Co., IN) Henry m. Lois Stroud (line remained in McDowell Co.) I am hoping to find others researching these family lines. I am looking for information on the ancestors of my great-grandmother, Emma Jane Odear. She was born March 19, 1884 in McDowell County. Her father's name may have been Samuel but I do not have any proof yet. In the Census of 1900, Emma was living in the home of her aunt and uncle, Louise and James Cooper. Any help would really be appreciated as I am having a hard time locating the Odear family.

I am searching for any MORTON family in NC. For mega years we've been told my gg-grandfather, David MORTON, came from the Buncombe Co, NC area, and now find that it was only a "guestimate." I need to connect to other North Carolina MORTON researchers in the hopes that I can find a home for my clan who ended up in Anderson/Union/Knox County, TN by 1817 or perhaps even earlier. Is anyone researching Daniel RUFF and his family? Daniel born abt. 1812, married 1st Delilah HILL in 1836 Rutherford Co., NC. Married 2nd, Adaline OWENBY. The family lived in Rutherford, Buncombe, McDowell and Madison Counties. Have names of children from both marriages. I descend from Daniel's daughter, Emaline who married Jim Bass and died in Buncombe Co., NC.
