This is a request for help to anyone who was born before 1944. Around 1942 or 43 my father, Roland Stanley from Mocksville, NC met a woman at a Carnival in Marion. They were married I'm not sure where but maybe in Marion. I was born 1944, Centreville, Mississippi. Roland Stanley was in the Army stationed at Camp Van Dorn. It was dismantled after the 2nd WW. He moved us to Winston-Salem by the time I was 18 mo. old. I am looking for the name of my mother whose 1st name was Gerryann or Jerryann. Iwas adopted into a family in Winston-Salem at 18 mo. The earliest marriage book I have for McDowell County, NC is 1870-1894. I checked this book for marriages between ANY McDonald and anyone. There are NO McDonalds listed at all, male or female. In a later book the only McDonald is: John T McDonald marries Ada Chase parents of male: J A McDonald & C P Mcdonal parents of bride: G F Chase & Emma P Chase Marion < NC 1 Nov 1900 Sorry I couldnt be of more help.
