I would love to have any family photos taken in McDowell County or of people from McDowell County (prior to 1950, especially early 1900s.) I am creating a photo site, maybe not connected to the NCGenWeb site. If you have any to contribute, please let me know. If you don't have access to a scanner, if you will send me a COPY of the photos (absolutely NO ORIGINALS please -- and I probably can't return them) I will scan the photos for you. I have started working on the site today and have over 30 photos so far, mostly of my family. I would really like to have more photos! I will give out the address as soon as I get everything working properly. If you already have the photos in digital form, please send them as jpgs if possible, and I need to know who is in the picture and if more than one person in the photo, their relationship to each other. Even if the photo site is not related to the NCGenWeb site, I will never charge for accessing the photos or charge to put them online, etc. In other words, it will never be "for profit" in any way. Is anyone interested in this? Please let me know. Steffi McDowell County Coordinator

Surviving Mr. Pool are his widow; five sons and two daughters; four grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters. --From the Marion paper, year is approximately 1928.
Hello, I am trying to find info on the above couple. Rev Ervin had churches in both SC and NC and I would like to get in touch with anyone who has info on their children and descendants. Anna Matilda Carson was born in McDowell Co, NC but I don't know who her parents were. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Terry G. Britt (female) Florence, SC
Terry, I don't have the children of Anna Matilda Carson and James Sherrod Erwin/ I am not sure which Erwin (Irwin) James S. Erwin belongs to, but I can tell you who Matilda belongs to. She is named as Matilda, wife of James S. Erwin in her father, William Moffet Carson's will. William Moffet Carson was married twice, his first wife was Almyra Tennessee Wilson, who is the mother of Matilda Carson Erwin. William Moffet Carson was the son of Col. John Hazard Carson and his second wife Mary Moffet. Both were married before, were in laws, and married after their spouses deaths. John Hazard Carsons first wife was Rachel Matilda McDowell. Mary Moffet was married to Rachel Matilda McDowell's brother, Joseph McDowell (McDowell Co. is named after this Joseph McDowell.) Hope this helps you. Charmaine
