    2. The Asheville Citizen Times is the paper in Buncombe Co and has been for many years, however there were other papers many, many years ago that I do not remember the names of. The papers are on microfilm at Pack Memorial Library, Haywood St in Asheville although some of the MUCH MUCH older ones skip a lot. Librarians there are very helpful. Edie in Atlanta

I do know my grandfather had quite a few full brothers and sisters. I was taken for visits to my great aunt - addie cuthberson at nebo. she had a son named after my grandfather. we have been told sam is buried at nebo united methodist church. however i question one thing - my grandmother died the day I was born. there are no reecords of her having been married before - her name was sallie bryson sweezie. there was a susan sweezy. two of her sisters married withrows. they were william and jason - both confederate soilders. my grandfathers brothers went west after the war, as railroad engineers, surveyors, and one was interested in medicine, also they were present as pinkerton men. we have quite a bit of info on the current family. my mother was the baby of the family and she was named after some of my grandfathers sisters. there was one named mary who married a man named freeman - perhaps in forest city. I am very interested in your info - between all of it we should resolve something. thank you

    3. Posted on: McDowell Co. NC Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/McDowell?read=545 Surname: ------------------------- Your post was pointed out to me by my Duncan cousin. I believe that your grandfather Preston, b. 3-7-1850, d. 2-10-1929 in Cleveland County, NC, married a Susan "Sallie" Sweezy(who was married to Bright before this marriage). Your Preston's father was Samuel P. Duncan and his mother was Artelissa "Malissa" McEntire. From what I have found, Samuel must have died or deserted during the Civil War and Malissa married Jonathon, Samuel's brother. They had several children together, one of which was Higgins Jonathon Duncan, our great grandfather. Malissa, I believe, died sometime between 1873-1877, when Jonathon married for a second time to a Julia Radford. I have quite a bit on this line, including copies of Preston and Sallie's death certificates but I don't have their marriage date, location or a complete list of their children. I would be glad to exchange information if you would like and maybe between my cousin, Kaye, we can fill in some of the missing pieces. She has a lot of recollections from the past but I don't know too much, as this is my husband's line. His mother is the daughter of Arthur William Duncan, son of Higgin's J. Duncan and Lizzie Mackey.
