It mentions the earliest forebear of his family to come to Western North Carolina was George Shuler, settling somewhere in Haywood Co. And his Great, Great, Grandfather was John Shuler, one of the firt settlers in what is now Bryson City,NC, He was one of the first owners of the Big Bear Reservation Tract of land. This Tract of land consisted of 640 acres, located on the North Bank of the Tuckaseegee River and Lower Deep Creek area. .
