Phillip, I found some Patterson's in the Swain Co., NC Heritage Book. Not sure they will help you out. But here is: Captain Sam Patterson of Union County, GA. is listed as commanding officer of his company the "Union Invincibles". Samuel was born in 1805 and was married to Jane Moore who was born in 1815. Carroll Moore Patterson was the son of Samuel and Jane Patterson. Carroll served in the Confederate Army. He was married to Lavina Elizabeth Cathey Patterson. They came to Swain County close to the end of the Civil War. They came from Chathume County, GA. which was renamed Union County. They came by way of covered wagon. The land they owned in GA was an Indian Grant of 160 acres. It was purchased from the Cherokee Indians through the Governor of GA. Carroll M. Patterson was born March 7, 1832 and died Jan. 4, 1914. Lavina E. Cathey Patterson was born July 29, 1844 and died May 21, 1917. Carroll andLavina were one of the earliest families who settled the Grassy Branch Community of Swain Co. They had four sons and four daughters. They were Homes, Lon, Decater, Jim., Nancy, Julie, Rindy and Jenny. Homes married Addie Delozier and they lived at Judson, NC. Their children were Fannie Bur, Sam, Bill, Kenyen, John, Frank and Hattie Mae. Decater married Amanda Jenkins and they made their home on Grassy Branch near Bryson City, their children were Hester, Flora, Vergie, Lillie, Minnie, Bob, Ed, Fred, Floyd and Walter. Lon married Nora Cambey and they lived in Swain Co. most of their lives. They had only one child, Willie Bell. Jim lived in Swain Co. all of his life and never married. Nancy Angeline Patterson was born April 14, 1866 and married William A. Revis on May 20, 1886. She died in 1929 and was buried in Etowah, TN. Two children Mary E. Revis born March 12, 1887 and Louis D. Revis. Julie married Henry Greene. Their children were Bessie, Maude, Thad, Claude, Ethel, Walter, Harley and Alex. Rindy married Zack Guffey. They lived in Cherokee Co., NC. most of their lives . They had one son Wade Guffey. Jennie married Curtis Fox and lived in Swain Co. Their children were Willard, Lenna, Edna, Grace and Winston.
