On a photocopy I made for another reason, I have noticed that from 4 March 1852 until sometime after 4 March 1861, there were pension payments made at the Asheville payment office a rate of $23 per annum, to: Catherine Lindsay, widow of Walter (rank, private). The Asheville payment office served all the pensioners of western NC. The ledger was supposed to list pensioners under the "Act of February 2, 1848" which covered widows of Revolutionary soldiers (I think). Who were Catherine and Walter Lindsay? Were they related to the Lindsay nieces and nephews of Elder George G. Caler of early Macon County? Thanks for any help. <angie@mtwest.net>
