Since our families did move around a lot, wondering if this set might be connected somehow. His son's name was WILLIAM L. JONES, b. 1843 in TN.. I located him living in Monroe Co. Ark, in 1870 and in 1900. WILLIAM's mother died in Monroe Co.. I always figured he stayed close to his widowed mother. I could not locate him in 1880, 1910 or 1920. I know he died in 1922. Family lore is that this family was, at least part native american. If you saw a picture of WILLIAM L. JONES' sister THEODOCIA, you would have to believe it. The question I have is, would a native American in 1870 Ark. be likely to claim to be Black, instead of Native American?? In 1860 WILLIAM was living with his family Monroe Co. Ark.. On the census, he and his family were listed as white. On the 1870 and 1900 census WILLIAM is listed as black. Any information appreciated.
