Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iVB.2ACI/2408 Message Board Post: Hello to decendants of : Solomon was born in East Tennessee on March 28, 1800 and is the son of John Totherow and Elizabeth Clemmer. On May 4, 1845 Solomon left St. Joseph, Missouri as wagonmaster on the Oregon trail expecting to be the first permanent settlers in Oregon. The train arrived in The Dalles in September, 1845 and in October, 1845 the train split. They spent the winter of 1845-46 at Fort Wallah Wallah, which is now Washington. They did not reach the Williamette valley South of what is not McMinnville, Oregon until the Spring of 1846. As it turned out they were the second group of permenant settlers to arrive in Oregon. In an old cemetary near Monmouth, Oregon are the graves of some of the Totherows. Solomon died Feb 15, 1879 at the age of almost 79 and his wife Ibba died March 25, 1869 at 62 1/2.
