Dear listers, While I have never researched the Conrad Weaver family, his proximity to the Carpenters has created some interest and involvement. I have always suspected that Conrad Weaver was descended from the Weber family of Lancaster County, PA, most probably from Earl Township This was a very large Weber/Weaver family which was there very early. The Webers of PA were neighbors of the Zimmermans and I have always suspected that Conrad somehow came to NC with either the Zimmmermans/Carpenters, Blancks/Plonks, or Manis/Mauneys. All these families were also from Lancaster County and also settled nearby in NC. The story about Conrad being an orphan is very possibly true. The inability of researchers to get beyond him suggests something amiss about his lineage. I would doubt the part of the weaving mill. In 1760 most cloth and clothes were made either at home or by a skilled craftsman, a weaver, and then sold to others. OK Folks, We have a new ballgame going! Michael Pflatermiller was on ship President at Philadlephia 27 Sep 1752 He is listed in Trinity Lutheran Church Records of Lancaster Co., PA from Mercklingen in Wurttemburg when he m. 14 Sept 1762 Margaret Probst from Langenkandel. No further information on her or any children. In the same church records, Christina Binder b. 28 Oct 1756 bp 10 April 1757, dau of Leonhardt and Catherine Haug Binder. sp was Michael Flattermiller and Christina Schwanger. This is Miles Philbeck's Bender/Painter/Deck family in Rutherford Co. In the early '90s Miles did a thorough work-up on this particular family in Old Tryon Gen. Soc. Bulletin, some of which is in German Speaking People. LC,NC DB 16: 298 -7 Feb 1792 Michael Fladdermiller made a deed to Conrad Weaver of 200A for a Bond of Maintenance given to him by Conrad Weaver This would be the same land that Michael purchased from Valentine and Catherina Mauney on 18 April 1771, land that was granted to Valentine on 25 Apr 1767. I read this deed many years ago, but have forgotten the details of the Maintenance Bond and if it's in my files it's not readily available to me. This would be Deed Book I of Old Tryon/Lincoln Co. Actually the suspected ties to Conrad Weaver may be through the Fladdermiller/Bender trail back into PA. (There are Zimmerman/Carpenter connections here too) Could he have been Michael's stepson? Just a thought. Someone did a work-up on Michael several yers ago, can't recall who just now. Now that I have stirred up this can of worms to get everyone started out on the New Year, I wish all of you the very best...<GRIN> It's a beautiful day here in NE TN Hope the same for you.
